NEW Cooperative Supports ILCC College Farm
5/2/2024NEW Cooperative Supports ILCC College Farm
The College Farm at Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) recently received $2,000 from the NEW Cooperative Foundation. The funds will be used to purchase crop inputs for the farm. NEW Cooperative also presented an additional $2,000 in matching funds from the Land O’Lakes Foundation.
Ag students at ILCC gain valuable, real-world experiences in crop production on the farm’s 175 acres of corn and 90 acres of soybeans, says Neal Williamsen, Director of Agricultural Technology at ILCC. “Students are attracted to our ag program because of the opportunity for multiple internships at cooperatives, ag retailers, and farming operations. The students also apply what they learn in the classroom to the operation and management of the farm. NEW Cooperative is a great supporter of the farm, providing agronomy and grain marketing services.”
“NEW Cooperative is pleased to support the College Farm at Iowa Lakes Community College,” stated Gary Moritz, NEW Cooperative Foundation Director. “In addition to providing students with experiences that make them better farmers and valuable employees in the ag sector, we appreciate our relationship with the college that has fostered numerous interns and employees over the years in this area.”
