Dows Fire Department Receives NEW Cooperative Donation
6/9/2022
(L to R): Gary Moritz, NEW Cooperative Communications Director, presents Dows Rural Fire Association Chairman Duane Hess with a contribution totaling $5,000. John Heiden and Bill Heiden from the Dows Fire Department plus Dows Mayor Larry Klatt join the presentation.
The NEW Cooperative Foundation recently provided a contribution totaling $5,000 to the Dows Rural Fire Association, which funds and governs the Dows Fire Department. The contribution will be used to purchase a brush fire pickup truck.
“The brush fire truck we were using was wrecked and totaled in an accident on Interstate 35 when we were responding to call,” stated Duane Hess, Chairman of the fire association. “Though our insurance company provided a settlement, the difference between what we received and the new pickup is about $30,000. We depend on this truck to respond to all grass and field fires. This truck also responds to all calls on the interstate, so it is an important part of our fleet. We appreciate NEW Cooperative helping with our fundraising efforts.”
NEW Cooperative Communications Director, Gary Moritz, said “The Dows Fire Department was dealt a tough hand when their current pickup was in an accident responding to a call. We are happy to lend a helping hand in their fundraising efforts by giving a $2,500 contribution that was matched by the Land O’ Lakes Foundation, providing $5,000 in total funds to the department.”
