Description:           Performs operations of the liquid and dry fertilizer plant and ensures proper and safe delivery of dry fertilizer products and services which NEW Cooperative markets.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Include but not limited to the following:

  • Ensures a safe work environment as outlined by NEW Cooperative’s policies and procedures.
  • Dry Fertilizer Plant Operations
    • Helps maintain operations of the dry fertilizer facility by:
      • Unloading dry fertilizer (truckloads, rail cars)
      • Operating end-loader
      • Providing housekeeping within the dry fertilizer plant facilities
    • Perform standard routine maintenance and repairs to equipment throughout the dry fertilizer plant.
  • Liquid Plant Operations
    • Perform operations of the liquid fertilizer plant
    • Responsible for all packaged, mini-bulk, and bulk herbicide, pesticide products, the handling of equipment, and the proper transportation of products and equipment.
    • Work closely with vendors and technical support to troubleshoot problems and maintain efficient operations.
    • Ensures the location is following all regulations as they pertain to hazardous pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers.
      • Complies with all EPA regulations
      • Containment regulations
    • NH3 Plant Operations
      • Assist with the filling and delivery of NH3 nurse tanks.
      • Operate custom NH3 application equipment
      • Maintenance on nurse tanks and toolbars
      • Assist in the delivery of toolbars to customers
    • Work closely with dispatch in coordination delivery and application of both dry and liquid products.
    • Work to ensure proper inventory control procedures are followed.
    • Deliver products and services to customers.
    • Assist in operating fertilizer tender trucks.
    • Assist within all departments of location as needs arise.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Agricultural background with a strong desire to succeed in the industry.
  • Understand the seasonality of the farm supply business and the in-season time commitment.
  • A high level of knowledge on Kahler Automation and/or related equipment.
  • Understand the importance of providing very high levels of customer service.

Position Requirements:

  • Must have an acceptable driving record and be insurable to drive.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Class A CDL with tanker/hazmat endorsements.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Handler’s License.
