FEED MILL OPERATOR

Description: To efficiently operate computerized feed manufacturing equipment to mix and process ingredients to specified formulations and quality guidelines. Provide related customer services in a safe and effective manner.

Night Shift: Operate during the hours of 6 p.m. until 4 a.m.  Hours may vary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports NEW Cooperative’s stated Vision, Mission and Values
  • Projects a positive attitude to customers and employees at all times
  • Read, follow and assist in developing company policies
  • Plans and implements procedures and programs in compliance with all local, state and federal agencies

Safety Compliance:

  • Establish and maintain procedures for all Safety requirements
  • Develop management & location resource documents to support procedures
  • Oversees audits for safety compliance with all Federal & State agencies

Internal Compliance:

  • Provides oversight and guidance to semi-annual site education inspections and follow-up
  • Assists in the development of programs to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Conducts & Documents JHA’s
  • Manages and conducts audits to ensure NEW’s internal Safety Management System achieves compliance
  • Oversees NEW’s Arc Flash Program for Compliance
  • Conducts annual internal audits consisting of the following:
    • Site inspections
    • Lock-out Tag-out Verification
    • Respirator Fit Testing
    • Harness equipment inspections
  • Provides summary analysis to Supervisor

Training & Education:

  • Develop & administer all safety training programs
  • Establish & maintain training curriculum

Safety Contractor Program:

  • Communicates and supports the program with Location Managers
  • Manages for compliance

Government Reporting:

  • Ensures all reporting is performed accurately and timely

General:

  • Manage Safety-related communication flow and coordinate between departments
  • Attend industry safety meetings
    • Serve on boards and committees that are beneficial to NEW Cooperatives objectives
  • Develop and maintain an effective safety committee
    • Establish agendas
  • Coordinate newsletter articles and submits to communications
  • Maintains professionalism and confidentiality

 Job Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in grain/agronomy operations
  • At a minimum, a 2-year degree with preference to an agriculture background.
  • Must be licensed and insurable to drive
  • Must have OSHA 30 training or willing to obtain
  • Must have a general understanding of Microsoft programs (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook)
