A donation from the NEW Cooperative Foundation was recently awarded to the Manson Volunteer Fire Department. With assistance from the O'Lakes Foundation, the gift of $1,000 will be used for needed equipment and training of a special rescue team for high elevation emergency situations. This special rescue team, hosted by the Manson Volunteer Fire Department with additional members from other Calhoun County Fire Departments, will strengthen the emergency services available for our local area . Members of this confined space and high angle rope rescue team will be trained to effectively rescue victims from tall structures such grain bins and cat walks.
At a recent Manson Fire Department meeting, NEW Cooperative Board Member, Keith Green, presented the donation to the department's members. The confined space and high angle rope rescue team will be made up of 10 to 12 members. The team will be activated by calls dispatched from the Calhoun County Dispatch. In rural farming communities, rescue teams such as this are essential. The NEW Cooperative Foundation is proud to support this service by helping contribute funds to necessary safety equipment purchases and training.
