A donation gift of $10,000 has been awarded to a local fire department by the NEW Cooperative Foundation and Land O'Lakes Foundation. The donation was given to support the Bode Volunteer Fire Department's purchase of a new first responder-pumper truck which will replace the 35 year old rescue vehicle currently being used. At a recent fundraising event for the Bode Volunteer Fire Department, NEW Cooperative Board Member, Roger Nelson, presented the donation to the department's members. The services that area fire departments provide is important to the safety of our local communities, and the NEW Cooperative Foundation is proud to support this service by helping contribute funds to necessary safety equipment purchases.
Made up of 18 volunteer members, the Bode Fire Department is continuing to raise the additional funds needed to finalize the purchase of the new pumper rescue truck. They hope to have the new truck ready for use in June. "With a limited budget, we depend on donations from local companies and individuals to help with our purchases, " Bud Douglas, Secretary/Treasurer of the Bode Fire Department explained, "Without them, it would be a struggle to provide quality rescue services to our area." The ability for rural communities to continue providing emergency services to area residents and businesses is important to the NEW Cooperative Foundation and the members of NEW Cooperative.
